Multiple types of injections can be used for both temporary and long-term pain management. Steroid or cortisone injections can reduce swelling and inflammation for conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, adhesive capsulitis and/or bursitis.

Injections vary based on the origin of the pain. They may include intra-articular, or joint injections; trigger-point, or muscular injections; epidural injections around the spine for back pain; or even ultrasound-guided injections for shoulder pain.
