“My approach is leading with compassion, listening with a sympathetic ear, and being willing to help.”

Born in Uruguay, South America, Ricardo Silvera first helped patients deal with pain as a massage therapist. But he wanted to do more to help, so he went back to school to become a physical therapist assistant. In this role, he worked closely with other physician assistants and decided he needed more schooling. “It was a natural progression in my career to learn more about how to help people in pain,” he says.

Approach
Silvera’s compassionate approach springs from not only his work with elderly people as a physical therapist assistant, but also from his role as a caregiver for his father
who had cancer while Silvera was furthering his schooling to become a physician assistant. “It was a rewarding experience for me to help people in pain, especially my father,” he says. “Medicine is an ever-changing profession, especially in the development of new pain management treatments. I’m excited to be a part of it.”

Credentials
Silvera earned his Associate of Science degree as a Physical Therapy Assistant and then pursued his Associate of Science as a Physician Assistant at Miami Dade College in Miami, Florida. His certifications include Physician Assistant, Certified (PA-C), Physician Assistant License, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Basic Life Support (BLS).

Personal
Silvera enjoys spending time with his wife and painting. He also has a strong interest in gardening and is always glad to discuss what he’s currently cultivating.
