Rekha Suthar, MD

Approach:
For Dr. Suthar, communication is critical to an accurate diagnosis. “I must pay close attention to the patient and let the patient talk,” she says. Dr. Suthar’s focus at Synovation has been spine-related cases. She has found lumbar epidural injections helpful for disc herniation, and for arthritis-related spine pain, nerve blocks followed by radiofrequency ablations have been successful.
Professional Highlights:
Dr. Suthar completed medical school in India and came to the US for a master’s in public health at Florida International University in Miami. After a residency in general surgery and anesthesiology at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami, she completed a fellowship in interventional pain management at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center/Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
Personal Notes:
Dr. Suthar enjoys spending time with her family and traveling, and she looks forward to working with underprivileged children in the future.

Marly Maxime, MSN, APRN-BC

Approach:
With the recent focus on mental health, there is more acceptance of the idea that the mind and emotions can influence the body. “We’re trying to destigmatize this aspect of pain management treatment.”
Professional Highlights:
Maxime earned her undergraduate degree in agronomy from the University of Florida in 1992. She graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in nursing in 2007 and then a Master of Science in nursing (MSN), adult nurse practitioner degree in 2011 from Florida International University. She is currently working post-master (PM) as a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) candidate.
Personal Notes:
Nurse Practitioner Maxime enjoys reading, watching movies with her family, and traveling. She’s visited Paris, Milan, Rome, and Prague, but she’s looking forward to traveling to Japan someday.

Ricardo Silvera, PA
“My approach is leading with compassion, listening with a sympathetic ear, and being willing to help.”
Approach:
Silvera’s compassionate approach springs from not only his work with elderly people as a physical therapist assistant, but also from his role as a caregiver for his father
who had cancer while Silvera was furthering his schooling to become a physician assistant. “It was a rewarding experience for me to help people in pain, especially my father,” he says. “Medicine is an ever-changing profession, especially in the development of new pain management treatments. I’m excited to be a part of it.”Professional Highlights:
Silvera earned his Associate of Science degree as a Physical Therapy Assistant and then pursued his Associate of Science as a Physician Assistant at Miami Dade College in Miami, Florida. His certifications include Physician Assistant, Certified (PA-C), Physician Assistant License, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Basic Life Support (BLS).
Personal Notes:
Silvera enjoys spending time with his wife and painting. He also has a strong interest in gardening and is always glad to discuss what he’s currently cultivating.
