Mindfulness is the ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not become overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us. Mindfulness is a mental state achieved by focusing your awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting your feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations.

Used as a therapeutic technique in pain management, mindfulness helps patients focus on themselves, rather than the external stimuli and environmental factors that may contribute to their pain.
